I'm a psychologist by training, and I have always enjoyed having a career that allowed me the satisfaction of helping people while earning a living. I was a school psychologist for many years, and while I see mostly adults in my practice today, I still enjoy every opportunity I get to work with children. I was a licensed psychologist in Oregon for over 11 years, and in those years I was a fairly traditional therapist--using primarily cognitive-behavioral methods and the paradoxical problem-solving strategies of Milton Erickson, Jay Haley and others. While my clients generally made improvement, I found myself dissatisfied with the slow pace of traditional therapy and the often incomplete results for many people. I eventually gave up my license and focused instead on my full-time work in school psychology.
Less than two years later, I heard about Emotional Freedom Techniques and shortly after attended my first workshop with EFT founder Gary Craig. Many more such workshops with Gary would follow over the years, but early on I was convinced that EFT was a very special healing tool--and one that I could not even have imagined a few years before! Here was a method that was easy to use, had no adverse side effects and produced rapid, long-lasting results. And it could easily be taught to clients for use at home on their own behalf to reinforce and speed the healing process.
Since my introduction to EFT in 1998, I have immersed myself in mastering the method and have taught both basic and advanced workshops since early in 2002. Currently I use EFT with all of my clients, although I occasionally use other forms of energy healing as well.
I am a member of the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP).
